NYC-based arts and entertainment photographer combining a love of performing arts with a passion for clicking photographs
I photograph things I enjoy seeing: dance, music, ice dance, theater, multi-media performances, art installations, and wearable performance art. I also shoot corporate events, portraits and am willing to tackle most assignments clients need. With an MBA and undergraduate degree in economics, I worked in marketing, corporate finance and financial public relations in Fortune 100 companies for many years.
After my last corporate employer relocated, I took a break from job hunting to enjoy the arts. I went to shows and to outdoor performances toting my camera. I was surprised when dance companies found my photos online and asked to hire me. Having loved photography all my life, I could not resist taking a detour and trying life as a photographer.
I know the power of a great performing arts photo. Years ago, an enchanting advertisement of the New York City Ballet taken by legendary entertainment photographer Martha Swope enticed me to buy a ticket, which later turned into a season subscription that decades later I still have and enjoy.
Nothing can compare with a live performance, but I try to capture that excitement, the visual magic as Martha Swope's photo did. I want my images to spark people's curiosity and interests and whet the viewer's appetite to experience the thrill of live artistry on stage.
Since 2011, I have worked professionally as a photographer for numerous dance companies, theater groups, and musicians. My clients include New York Theatre Ballet, Ballets with a Twist, Elisa Monte Dance, Isadora Duncan Dance Company, Heidi Latsky Dance, Third Rail Projects, Garth Fagan Dance, Peridance Contempoary Dance Company, New Opera NYC, Ice Theatre of New York among others.
I have photographed for Lincoln Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, artsbrookfield and been the official photographer at many festivals, events and galas including the Battery Dance Festival, Booking Dance Festival, Bryant Park Dance Festival, River to River Festival and West Fest Dance Festival.
My images have been published in The New York Times, Financial Times, the Economist, The Washington Post, Dance Magazine, Time Out, The Village Voice, Conde Nast Traveler and assorted online publications.
I take pride in producing beautiful images to engage and attract audiences and financial support or to simply document an event. With my marketing and public relations background, I can also provide marketing, and strategic advice. Please contact me if you need help promoting yourself, your organization or if you just want to capture wonderful moments.
